Mobile Solutions- Going the Digital Way!

Mobile Solutions- Going the Digital Way!

The smartphone is gaining momentum in the current life of each and every individual in urban areas and slowly penetrating to the small towns and villages. Its a scenario worldwide with competition among mobile manufacturers across the globe focusing on building cheaper phones with as many features as possible. This creates a wider penetration of infrastructure and enables companies to reach to every individual with mobile based solutions. India accounts for 11.2% of the global downloads for Google Play Store followed by the United States and Brazil. This shows the opportunities in developing mobile based solutions for companies. Companies are now transforming their offering digitally with web-based solutions and app-based solutions that create convenience and better customer experience.

Considering the Indian scenario, an average Indian has 62 apps on the phone with up to 35 active apps on the phone. This includes banking applications, utility applications, games and most importantly the social media applications. The disruptive startup ecosystem has been considered as the major catalyst for this transformation in mobile application solutions in Indian industry and forced the traditional companies to move towards digital solutions. This change has brought many old-school companies to death in the recent past, especially the call-taxi services and restaurants. And, the new generation adapts those changes and identify the convenient and easy way of availing services.

Digitalization has not limited to the end-user solution but it has the potential to automate the entire business process. The right solution will provide cost-effective resource management and improve business output. Hence, there is a serious screening required while going for digitalization of your business by developing mobile solutions. It's more important when you are hiring a third party technology company to develop your solution. We have seen 85% of the users who look for IT companies go behind the companies who have been listed in the first pages or behind freelancers. It's not necessary that the companies listed in the first page have the required capabilities you are looking for or maybe a digital marketing company who might be partnered with a third-party who develops the application for them. And finally the estimate given becomes the final decision point while selecting the company to develop the app. In most of the cases, the capability is not considered while taking decision especially in case of individuals or startups. This usually ends with conflicts between the client and the company in terms of delayed output, desired results, and the scope of the solution.

Our recent talks with a few potential clients have highlighted that the major issue in the mobility transformation is the scope of the project. Companies deliver the final output to the client and ignore the scope for future expansion and additions. One of the best example I would give here is the VAT inclusion in the United Arab Emirates and the software update problems faced by small and medium industries who use licensed Softwares or own solutions. Most of the companies had to scrap the software and forcefully move to new solutions to adapt to the governing changes. These are common in all solutions either due to the inexperienced development team or to create dependency on the company in the future. As a product-focused development company, we take more time to understand the client requirements, existing business processes and the future plans for expansions. Hence, the requirement identification step should be kept as detail as possible with the support of the product team who are highly experienced in developing robust solutions while keeping the interface simple for users. The team must document the requirements, analyze the existing solutions in the industry and prepare prototypes and clickable solutions to give a deep understanding of final solutions. This step is to keep individual clients to be clear about the final product and to avoid deviation in the project timeline.

We suggest developing the Android Application and web portal for beta testing as its easier to accommodate the changes and has more penetration in the global market. This enables the customer to launch the Android app and website in the market in less time and start building the business. And based on the market acceptance and user feedback, iOS application is developed and Android version is revamped. Also, it helps clients to avoid the risk of investment in one-time by spending on technology infrastructure. Another major focus should be on the UI design step, designers and product team must spend in understanding the latest design trends and international design standards. We spend all our time to develop the best solution for your business that creates a brand for us rather than creating a long portfolio that does not perform well in the market.

As people say, Ideas are many but converting the idea to the product that meets the user expectation is few. Hence, it's very much important to have the right technical team with you while moving your business to digital. Price is a factor in selection but it's not the final influencer for hiring the team. If you are existing in the market, change is to bring more users or to create a better customer experience, if you are a startup its the material translation of your dream. So. take time and choose your team for a better digital future.
